Dr Salman Naseer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology at the University of the Punjab, Gujranwala Campus, and is currently on extraordinary leave from the University. He joined Informat Limited in Hamilton, New Zealand, as a Data Science Professional, where he works in the areas of data science, data engineering, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and advanced data analytics. He also implemented the first computerized admission system at the University of the Punjab, Gujranwala Campus.
He completed his Ph.D. in Computer and Information Sciences at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand, in 2021. Prior to his Ph.D., he earned an M.S. in Computer Science, securing first position, as well as a Master’s degree in Computer Science. He has more than two decades of combined experience in teaching, research, software engineering, information technology, and academic administration.
His research and professional interests span data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, Internet architecture and protocols, data communication and computer networks, network design and management, network security, wireless networks, smart cities, the Internet of Things (IoT), and object-oriented programming. His research has resulted in numerous publications in well-reputed international journals and conference proceedings. He has received more than 1,500 citations and has presented his research at international venues, including Harvard University in the United States, as well as conferences in Switzerland and Singapore. He has also attended and presented in conferences at RMIT University in Australia and the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
He has received four research incentive awards and secured three research grants. He has also received five travel grants in support of his participation in international academic and research activities. He has served as an external examiner for an MPhil thesis at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). He has supervised more than ten MPhil theses in Commerce as a secondary supervisor, in addition to supervising numerous undergraduate and postgraduate student projects and theses. He has contributed to academic and technology-related initiatives at the University of the Punjab and has served in various academic and administrative roles, including Chairman of the Blood Donor Society.
His current professional work at Informat Limited in New Zealand further extends his academic and research expertise into practical applications of data science, artificial intelligence, data engineering, cloud-based technologies, and intelligent information systems.
